The Caledonian Campus
Caledonian Campus is an independent through-school providing education for pupils aged 5–18. Located in the heart of Glengarnock, North Ayrshire, our campus is set within the grounds of the historic Glengarnock Steel Works, which operated from 1840 until its closure in 1985.
Our campus spans six distinct buildings, with spacious indoor and outdoor areas that provide a peaceful, supportive and inspiring environment for learning. We offer individualised education across both Primary and Secondary, with flexible placements available for day pupils and young people accessing care and education through Spark of Genius Residential Services.
Our approach is centred on understanding each young person as an individual. We provide tailored learning experiences that recognise their strengths, needs, interests and aspirations, helping pupils to re-engage with education, develop their confidence and achieve their full potential.
Our curriculum is aligned with Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence and supports young people to develop as Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors. Alongside academic learning, we place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, personal development, practical skills and preparation for life beyond school.
The campus provides a wide range of specialist learning and recreational spaces, including dedicated Primary and Secondary facilities, a Skills for Work building, Mechanics Bay, Sports Centre, music and creative spaces, and areas designed to support emotional regulation and wellbeing.

Our Young People
At Caledonian Campus, we provide individualised and tailored education for both Primary and Secondary aged pupils. Our flexible placements cater for day pupils, as well as young people who require care and education through Spark of Genius Residential Services.
Day pupils attend Caledonian Campus while living at home with parents or carers, within a foster placement, or in an external residential care setting.
Care and Education placements are available for pupils who live within a Spark of Genius Residential Placement, providing a holistic approach to their education and care needs.
Our pupils come to Caledonian Campus for a variety of reasons, including learning difficulties (LD), autism and other special educational needs (SEN). In many cases, mainstream or previous alternative education provisions are no longer able to meet the specific needs of the individual pupil.
Many of our pupils have experienced challenges that may have affected their education, wellbeing and engagement with learning. At Caledonian Campus, we are committed to re-engaging these learners by providing the support, encouragement and individualised education they need to move forward.
We work closely with pupils, families, carers and other professionals to understand each young person's needs and develop an approach that enables them to make meaningful progress.
Through Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence, we provide a tailored learning experience that promotes personal growth, skills development and academic achievement, while preparing young people for their next steps in education, employment or training.

Through their time at Caledonian Campus, pupils develop the skills, confidence and resilience to achieve their ambitions and become successful, confident and responsible individuals.
