West Cottage
At West Cottage, we work with our young people and any others that are important in their lives to ensure and develop the best possible experience for them. Based on the requirements of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), West Cottage reflects all relevant policy and legislative developments across children’s services, justice and health and social care in Scotland. It is aligned with our policy programmes of #KeepThePromise, Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC), the national care standards and the care inspectorate standards which seek to recognise that all children must receive the right help at the right time.
Our key values which the West Cottage vision is achieved by:
-
we are child-centred, trauma-informed and respect the rights and wellbeing of the child at all times
-
we provide consistent, loving and holistic support, which enables children to have their voices heard, access specialist services and recover from their experiences
-
we aim to prevent children being retraumatised and to improve the experience of the justice process for children and families
-
we demonstrate connectedness and national leadership to uphold children’s rights to protection, support, participation and recover
