Millholm
Millholm is a residential service for children who for varying reasons, require medium to long term specialist care. We accommodate for children and young people aged between 8 - 17 years who will benefit from living within a residential group living environment. Millholm has an experienced and committed care team who strive to achieve excellence in care through our person centred approach. We are able to support young people using techniques to develop adaptive coping and self-management skills.
Millholm is situated in a quiet valley with exceptional private grounds surrounding the property which ensures space for young people and staff to participate in activities outside within the garden. The flow of the river running around the house ensures a tranquil and peaceful environment to help carry out therapeutic work delivered by our skilled and fully trained care team.
There are a large number of opportunities for participation in a wide range of recreational and leisure activities in the geographical area surrounding Millholm. There are numerous amenities close by including access to shopping, local parks, cafes/restaurants, swimming, bowling, cinema, libraries, horse riding and go-karting; these activities are all within a short travelling distance and staff will support young people in their chosen recreational activities. We will also encourage our young people to visit places of interest, to go for nature walks in the local countryside, and to join clubs and groups according to their personal preferences and interests. The Millholm care team will encourage all of our young people to try out new things and to experience new challenges, learning across a 24 hour curriculum, broadening their own expectations and to successfully achieve.
We place great value on positive interprofessional working involving social work, CAMHS, school and health care professionals to maintain highly efficient care and an holistic approach. Millholm facilitates and encourages visits to families for young people when appropriate to assist in positively affecting outcomes.
