our residential service

Residential Information

Spark of Genius has small residential homes for children and young people for which we invite referrals.  Our homes provide a therapeutic environment to support young people who have a variety of needs.  The children and young people in our residential homes are educated in mainstream school or in one of our learning centres.

Educating children and young people is a vital component of their development which is why we put into action a 24 hour curriculum, providing continual support and guidance to influence development.

Our primary goal

Our primary aim is to affect long term internal development in our young people.  The goal is to convey to young people that they are important, that their thoughts and feelings are important.  We aim to instil a strong sense of identity, individuality and self worth in our young people and help them to come to terms with and understand their life events and feelings.  Through our therapeutic and consistent approach we are able to ensure all young people receive the most effective care possible.  To learn more about our unique therapeutic approach click here

Emergency placements

Spark of Genius understands that it is not always possible to plan placements when there is a crisis situation with a young person.  We understand the need to act quickly in order to be able to meet the young person’s needs and therefore we do our best to accommodate these individuals as quickly and smoothly as possible. We do therefore offer emergency placements but would like to stress that where possible Spark of Genius is notified at the earliest point to minimise emergency referral placements.

Respite placements

Respite placements as also available where needed.  These placements can vary in length and we aim to be as accommodating as possible.  Respite can therefore be offered as part of a care package or in a crisis situation.  We would be able to look at weekend respite, mid week respite or even outreach support in the form of staff taking young people out during the day or providing family support and guidance.
