day school provision
Day Education
Spark of Genius have several high-tech, well resourced and welcoming learning centres. Careful attention is paid to aspects of lighting, space between desks, individual workstations with computers and background music to settle, motivate and engage young people in purposeful learning.
Highly skilled teams of staff are able to build strong relationships with small groups of young people and their families in a very short period of time.
You can view information on each of our day education learning centres by using the links on the left hand side of this page.
Curriculum
Spark of Genius provides a curriculum which takes very good account of the learning needs of each young person whilst carefully considering their social and emotional needs. We offer a full spectrum of curricular levels to suit the individual.
Using highly-visual workbooks and backed up by an online e-learning system, our curriculum ensures our young people leave Spark of Genius with the best education possible. Click here to read more about our Software Design department.
Skills Courses
Our Skills courses have been created to allow young people access to vocational qualifications. These courses are predominantly aimed at the 14-16 age range and are primarily used to teach young people practical skills and prepare them for the world of work. Spark of Genius' Skills courses include Construction Crafts, Rural Skills, Hospitality Skills and Sport and Leisure Skills.
Skills courses provide progression pathways to employment, training and further learning opportunities for all learners. The successful completion of a Skills course provides formal certification in the same way as for any other National Qualification.
Transitional Learning CentreĀ
The Transitional Learning Centre (TLC) specifically caters for young people who are in the process of transition from prior placements which have broken down to more settled educational futures, whether back in mainstream or with Spark of Genius. It is staffed by experienced primary teachers who provide cross-curricular programmes of work.
Post 16 destinations and transitions for our young people
We have expanded our educational provision to include young people over the age of 16, using different approaches centring upon the Get Ready For Work (GRFW) scheme to aid our young people to optimise their academic, vocational and social abilities. This allows us to develop young people further after they reach the age of 16 by offering them paid training places at Spark of Genius. This gives young people work experience and additional education and training to make them more ready to gain work or gain places in further education.
We have 2 GRFW projects, both of which cater for up to 70 young people over the age of 16. It allows us to continue to work with young people and prepare them for the world of work, also finding appropriate housing for them if required.
